Our Christian Distinctiveness

We are confident and proud to belong to a Christian school. Our distinctive Christian vision underpins our aspiration to provide the highest educational standards possible to realise the potential of all our children. The school has a clear Christian vision, which is rooted in our mission statement and stems from the barriers we feel some of our children face. Our values, alongside our mission statement were decided upon soon after our accademisation after joint work by the pupils, staff, parents, Diocese and governors.

Our Burntstump Vision:

In our Burntstump community, everyone, adults and children, knows that they are valued as God’s children. Their gifts are discovered, valued and nurtured so that all can flourish to live life in all its fullness.

St Paul's Church and Vicar Sally

School has very strong links with St Paul’s Church, Daybrook. Reverend Sally Baylis leads whole school worship fortnightly whilst she also plays an active role in the daily life of the school as a member of the Governing Body, attending school events, trips and residential visits etc. Children and families are also encouraged to be involved in the church. The school often advertises family services or special church events in the school newsletter and holds services for the whole school at the church despite it being a bus ride away. Foundation Governors, Carol Kay (also Chair of Governing Body) and Sue Ellis (vice-chair) are fully involved in life of school and can testify to the high quality of Worship times & RE lessons.

Music

Music plays an important role in the life of the school and we feel it is an important vehicle in enabling the children to explore their spirituality. To this end we encourage all children to take part in our school choir, trumpet, dood, ukulele, recorder and violin lessons.
